The Power of the Pause: Why Stillness Is Part of the Strategy

Peace Be Still
We live in a world that celebrates movement. Move faster...Produce more...Stay busy...Keep grinding.
One thing I’ve learned is this: Stillness and rest are active states even though they often go unnoticed because they appear passive.
Rest is not doing “nothing.” Rest is restoration and stillness is recalibration.
Sometimes we are so focused on accomplishing the next thing that we ignore the signals our body and mind are sending us. Fatigue, irritation, anxiety, burnout and emotional exhaustion are indicators that we have been operating without proper rest.
Some of the greatest clarity, healing, direction, and strategy comes in moments where we intentionally disconnect from the noise long enough to reconnect with ourselves and with God. Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is pause. I'm not saying quit give up, or to stop believing. Just pause long enough to restore your mind, body, spirit, and emotions so you can continue the journey from a healthy place.
We cannot continue pouring out effectively if we never allow ourselves to be refilled.
For me, stillness is intentional.
It’s taking time for prayer, reflection, silence, and protecting my peace. It’s understanding that my mind, body, and spirit all require stewardship.
Stillness is not about disconnecting from purpose. It’s about reconnecting with yourself so you can continue walking in purpose from a healthy place. Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is slow down long enough to hear yourself again and hear God clearly again.
This Mental Health Awareness Month, I want to encourage you to pay attention to yourself in a deeper way.
💡 Ask yourself:
Have I truly rested lately?
Am I mentally exhausted?
Have I allowed myself space to process emotionally?
Am I spiritually drained?
What areas of my life need restoration?
“Peace Be Still” is more than a phrase. It is permission to stop striving long enough to restore what life may have depleted.
As we continue through Mental Health Awareness Month, let’s normalize checking on ourselves and others.
Let’s normalize rest, healing, and protecting our peace. We cannot continue pouring from an empty place and expect to thrive fully.
Protect your peace, guard your vessel, and give yourself permission to pause.
